Advanced Health Sciences

This course integrates concepts of Anatomy and Physiology and related medical terminology. Through various instructional methods, students will investigate and apply concepts associated with the process of homeostasis and the essentials of human function at the level of genes, cells, tissues, and organ systems. Students will understand the structure, organization, and function of the various components of the healthy human body as well as the human body in illness. Students will also learn the necessary medical terminology to prepare the student with the language skills essential for effective, independent use of health and medical reference materials.
Prerequisites required: First year course of same discipline (Biology)
Highly Recommended: Chemistry, CP English 10 or 11, Health Sciences I; Successful completion of the COMPASS exam, Minimum GPA of 2.5 and passage of the GQE.
