Building Trades
2 Semesters 6 Credits
Grades 10-11-12
Students are exposed to all phases of residential construction including actually building a single family dwelling in the community.Skills that are learned are: framing layout, framing, roofing, siding, and interior wall finishing. In addition, students will learn about the design and installation of electrical, plumbing, and heating and cooling systems. Additional skills acquired are: blueprint reading and material estimating.
The Building Trades program is articulated with IvyTech Community College of Indiana, Richmond and the Vincennes University Building Trades program, which offers a dual credit option including high school credit and college credit (4 hours) This is a one- or two-year program open to sophomores, juniors and/or seniors.
Students may earn a maximum of six credits per year.
